“SHARIN” TIME WITH SHARIN HALL-GRANT

 Interview by Shannon Wilson
aka: "Sharp

When I approached Sharin Hall-Grant about an interview, she was most gracious. That is one way to describe Sharin, gracious. Another way to describe her might be, intelligent, sweet, competitive, and an overall pleasure to be around.

She was in the process of talking on her cell phone, feeding her horse, and motioning her business partner, and dear friend Ken Pruitt, to put her saddle away. This is one lady that can multi-task and do it well. She put her busy schedule aside and gave Barrel Horse World her undivided attention.

BHW: Where are you originally from?

SHARIN: I am originally from Sunburg, Ohio. My mother, father and sister are still there.

BHW:  When did you start running barrels?

SHARIN:  I was young, 5 or 8, I can’t really remember. I started on a little pony named Foxy. I was 16 when I became real competitive. I competed primarily in AQHA shows and some open shows.

BHW: What is your greatest accomplishment?

SHARIN: It would have to be winning the 2004 Speedhorse Silver Cup Derby on Dash Ta Da Moon.

BHW: Which horse would you consider your favorite of all that you have competed on?

SHARIN: My favorite horse would have to be Dash Ta Da Moon, but Jerry Badger San and my current horse Bahama Bully are my second and third favorites.

BHW: What are your future goals in barrel racing?

SHARIN: I want to continue with my futurity success and hope to win a big futurity. I will also enter some close to home PRCA/WPRA rodeos. I have some nice prospects coming up including a full sister to Jerry Badger San, a Bully Bullion filly, and a First Smart Money that will be coming along, as well as several others.

BHW: Tell us a little about your new husband? (I must add that Sharin’s face lit up when we asked this question!)

SHARIN: His name is Michael Todd Grant. He is an electrician from Madill and we just bought a place in Kingston, OK. We were married on October 2nd of last year. He is great!

BHW: Tell us about your business partner Ken Pruitt.

SHARIN: He is the BEST guy you could ever ride for in the world! We are best friends and it is a privilege to ride for him and I consider myself very fortunate.

Sharin has been riding for Ken and they have been business partners for three years now. I have watched them over the years and I must say that they are a team. Sharin and Ken are a great asset to the sport of barrel racing and Barrel Horse World greatly appreciated their time and hospitality while conducting this interview.

Sharin, we at BHW wish you and Ken continued success and “Thank You!” for representing our sport to well.
