Description EQUIGAMES OPEN BARREL RACE INFORMATION

South Point Equestrian Events Center

The EquiGames Open Barrel Race presented by Charmayne James will be held on December 2 - 4, 2009with a guaranteed minimum of $50,000!!

This will be an Open Ladies Barrel Race. There will be a 2D insurance payoff with a second split (this is not a 2D) race. Entry fees will be $1500 per entry with a $500 Bonus Entry for a second horse. The race will consist of 2 full rounds on 12/2 & 12/3 with the top 10% advancing to the short round during the Dec. 4th Thunder EquiGames.

We have opted for a guaranteed payoff instead of added money. First place in the average will be guaranteed a minimum of $50,000!! (the guaranteed payoff and prizes will be awarded regardless of the number of contestants participating). There will be a$10,000 bonus to the fastest two-horse combination on four runs, not including the short round.

Entries – The entry deadline for this event is October 31, 2009. Entries will be accepted after the deadline, but those received after October 31 will incur a $250 per horse late fee. Complete payoff will be posted online on November 2nd, or as quickly as we can get all racers entered.

There are no late fees for drawouts prior to November 6th. There will be a $250 draw out fee after November 6th. All draw out fees will be added to the payout pot.

The October 31stdeadline should allow entry time for NFR bubble racers (NFR contestants may not compete).

Draw - Draw positions will be set based on the date and time received. (First to enter would be first to run). Draw positions in round 2 will be reversed.

Open Arena - Open Arena will be on Tuesday December 1st from 1:00 pm to 5:00.

Here is your estimated payoff for this year’s EquiGames Race. We have made some recent alterations , so let me first get you up to speed on what transpired on the payoff this week.
Earlier this week we ran a poll on the estimated payout based on the way we advertised it, with $50,000 guaranteed for first place. This payoff was way out of balance with $50,000 to first place and $20,000 to all the other places in the average. Basically, with this format we were going to end up with only one happy contestant.

We polled everyone entered in the race to see if they wanted to stay with a front loaded race, or take the actual added money ($41,000) and do a regular added money distribution. I know you thought I had absolutely lost my mind asking the opinion of a group of barrel racers about a payoff, but we had a 90% response and only had one racer that preferred the front load. Everyone agreed to have first pay at least $20,000 and clearly we were paying too many positions in the average. We will freeze go-round payoffs at the current level.
All entries that come in from this point forward will be added to the average. We are hoping that with enough new entries we may be able to get first place up to $25,000, then begin to bolster the other places in the average.

So yes, we are doing a normal payoff calculation with $41,000 added. We are reducing the late fee to $100 to hopefully encourage more entries and get more money into the pot. Also please note that there are no late fees for those adding a second horse if you are already entered.

Again, we are very optimistic that we can entice more late entries with revised payout. I also want to encourage any and all of you to assist in encouraging a dozen or so more racers to Las Vegas. Our payout looks good at $100,000, but with just a little more support we can really turn the burner up.

The cash payout for this event has risen from $40,000 last year to over $100,000 this year, not including prizes. The payback is 125% of the total entry fees at this point, which is great for you . This years race has improved by doubling the number or racers from last year. We currently have 66 horses entered, 47 one-horse entries and 19 two-horse entries. I will update this count week by week until we reach Las Vegas.

Total Pot - $101,000
There will be 27 checks paid on 47 entrants ( at this point) great odds
Second Horse Payoff $10,000 - $5,000, $3,000, $2,000
( 19 horses so far, 1 in 6 pay)

Average ($61,600) – 8 places, 1 in 8 payback.
