BI Fast As You "Dwight" is my family's home-raised futurity colt. He has run at four futurities this year - Wright Turn where he ran 7th but won the 2D, 5-State Breeders where he finished 18th in the average and just missed the finals, Dash And Dance where he placed in the 2D pole futurity, and Gridiron where he ran 19th in the first round of 95 and ended up second in the 2D average. He has won about $3500 in his short career. Dwight has been very consistent and seems to love to run barrels. He is learning how to handle more speed and can go a lot faster. His time on a standard at the 5-State both rounds was an 18.0 with very visible room for improvement. I have no doubt he can be a low 17 sec horse. He is fast and strong and to this point has never had issues with the ground or knowing where his feet are. He runs without drugs, has had no injections or maintenance to this point, is unshod, has had no respiratory issues, has never had an injury, and to my knowledge is completely sound.

Like all the futurity colts I have sold over the years (references available), Dwight has seen a lot and is more well rounded than just a barrel horse. He has been entered in the poles three times (low 23s is where he is at now), he spent 30 days with Paul Griemsman in heading and break-a-way training last spring and I have roped on him a little since, and he spent 30 days last year with Louie Brunson as a real ranch horse (like roping calves out of river bottoms and dragging them back to the branding pen not just "trailing cows"). He's great in the corrals sorting - pin his ears and bite cattle but he will always watch and probably spook from the guy with the flag (eye roll). Dwight can be watchy outside the arena but has zero buck and won't cause any issue for someone with confident riding skills. He could be intimidating to those with inexperience and I would not recommend he be ridden by kids - a high school one would probably be fine. In the arena he is all business and only wants to do his job. He hasn't run a lot but he walks in and out of the gate and no issues with stopping at the end. I run him mostly in a d-ring or a short shank three piece. This is a really nice colt with a boatload of potential.

I am a small animal veterinarian and I work a lot. I train futurity colts as my second job. I am not a competitor - I am a trainer and I don't have a lot of free time to ride and haul. My colts get ridden when I have time (usually 3-4 days a week). They are BROKE, solid, and like their job when they leave my place. But they don't get asked for their lives by me and my goals are not to be winning the 1D - it isn't realistic for me. I have never had one leave that had reached its full potential with me - but I give them the tools to excel with the next person.
