“Boogietillyrfamous”
Shade is a 15.2hh grey 2020 gelding by GUYS KEEPIN THE FAME and out of a STAR WAR LYNX mare.
I absolutely love this horse. He’s everything I look for in a prospect…. tall, athletic, soft, fancy broke and wants to please.
He’s cruising a beautiful pattern and is on track for the 2025 futurities.
- been hauled everywhere this summer
- hauls easily, self loads and backs out
- been in stalls, panels, hotwire pens
- good in a herd, middle of the pecking order
- easy to catch, trim, tie, shoe, bathe (currently has front shoes on as he came home to spend the summer riding out)
- super soft, body broke, nice stop, wants to please
- he’s kind, gentle and loves to be loved on. He’s a big goof and likes to pick things up and tip things over and play with the most random objects
- he’s been worked both indoors and out and has a natural 4x4 turning style. He’s the perfect mix of a free runner who wants to hunt his barrels
- he’s come along to jackpots, roping events, and rodeos so has seen the sights and overnighted plenty already for his age
- teeth, feet and chiro are up to date
The ONLY reason this gelding is for sale, and I mean the ONLY reason is because he’s the classic definition of cold backed. With time off he gets humpy. He’s been like this since he was at the colt starters at 3 years old and still has periods of it, mostly after time off. When he’s ridden 5 days a week there isn’t a hit of it, but after some time off he often sucks up when saddling and gets a little worried for the first few minutes of the ride. It’s not malicious at all, it’s more of a reactive response that he needs to work himself through. It’s not a big mean buck but a fold in half and jump up in the air style “buck”.
I have NEVER had this ruin a ride, we work through it and continue on to have a great session every time. He HAS gotten me off a few times…. I’m not that sticky, and this is the only reason he’s looking for new pasture. I’m a Mom who runs several personal businesses with a medically compromised husband who relies on me a lot and I’ve decided I just can’t risk myself. He’s been vetted, treated for ulcers etc.
I truly LOVE everything about this gelding. He’s everything a person would want, 99% of the time. Will he grow out of it? Possibly. Is it just who he is? Maybe.
This gelding has what it takes and I 100% know wherever he goes he will be successful. I’m very sad it most likely won’t be with me, but I need to make this decision for my family 🖤
Hauling available. I have clean X-rays available as well from him. * he has a scar on his right front from a wire cut. Have a clean X-ray from that and it’s fully healed with zero issues, simply cosmetic.
