Jackson – 15-Year-Old Gelding

Jackson is a 15-year-old gelding. He’s a free runner.
He competes in major rodeo shows — music, crowds, bulls, etc. — and handles it all with ease.
No issues entering the alley; in fact, he’s sometimes a bit too eager.

He has a very long stride, so even when he doesn’t look like he’s running hard, he still clocks good times. He’s got the heart of a warrior. He competed in the Futur Champion circuit as a colt and made it to the finals. This horse has taught me so much.

He needs someone who knows how to understand and manage him.
He has no vices. He wasn’t herd-bound before coming to me, but has become a bit attached here.

He’s affectionate and full of personality.
He’s had 1 to 3 check-ups a year with a sports vet and has been well maintained.
He tends to lose a bit of weight in the spring with the temperature changes — he’s done this every year since I’ve had him.

He has a racy build, so he’ll never be super bulky — just fit.
He ties to the trailer or to cross ties and loads well.

I love this horse with all my heart. I even have a tattoo of him.
I wish I could be the one to give him his retirement in my big green field, but I feel like he’s losing his potential with me. He deserves a rider much handier than I am.

It breaks my heart to write these words — I can hardly believe I’m doing it.
My father owns the stable where I board him, so I feel a bit of pressure.
If it were entirely up to me, I’d just keep him to watch him happily grazing.
I love him so much.

He does require maintenance once a year.
