|Description||There are many student leadership programs in schools throughout the United States. These programs teach students to have the skills and qualities that are necessary in a leader. Student leaders can be found in student councils and committees, on sports teams, in expository essay academic clubs, and in other extracurricular settings. Whichever group is being led, the student leader must have the following skills and traits to lead effectively.
Fostering Positive Attitudes
A student leader with a positive attitude can find a way to foster positive attitudes in others. Providing encouragement and direction will guide team members towards successful completion of a project. A bright sense of humor and some emotional intelligence can help a student leader relate to the team. It also keeps the atmosphere positive with the sense that no matter how difficult the project, it can be completed with teamwork. A student leader who is extroverted and enthusiastic can lead a team to accomplishing great things. Such a team leader can keep any project exciting and interesting. Natural enthusiasm draws in others and inspires people to follow and participate in the excitement. This greatly increases the productivity of the team, each member eager to accomplish the goal and celebrate victory.
