This nice mare, Gemma, has a good start on her. She is behind in her training due to my health issues and surgeries. I used to own both the dam and the sire, but I ended up selling all of my breeding stock and just keeping two of my favorite babies. I also raised Gemma's dam, Bullys Jetolena, and she was a proven 1D mare. I'm not a rodeo person, but I did run at some big open barrel races, such as Salina, Utah, and Buckeye, AZ. I started breeding Bullys Jetolena after she recovered from a torn suspensory tendon. She had several nice babies before she died trying to have her last one, and I am keeping the one gelding out of her that I have left.
The sire, Famous Dr Kirk, is a really nice horse. I did run him a little bit, but my neck was in bad shape, and I just didn't have the strength in my arms to do him justice as his rider. I sold him to a nice lady in Texas, where he is standing today and producing amazing foals. I ended up having my neck fused in Dec 2023, and I'm getting stronger and doing well. I just don't have it in me to work with young horses any more.
Gemma is a big, strong, mare with really correct conformation. She has good bone, straight legs, and really good feet. She has never had shoes on, but she has been trimmed regularly. I sent her to a friend and trainer to start as a 3-yr-old, and she spent two months on her. I have sent her back every year for a few months to keep her going, in hopes that I would be able to take over. That has not happened, and I have decided that I need to sell her so she can go on and do something! She is really light in the face and moves off your legs, but she has never been ridden out or had a job. She can be a little quirky. This mare needs a job and someone who knows what they are doing. She is at the trainers now, and I will be getting some videos of her soon. She is worth the money just as a broodmare, but she has so much more potential yet to come with the right person.
