Perfect Youth or Junior Rodeo step up for a young rider that needs more speed in Pole and roping. One Times A Charm will charm anyone she meets with her talent and personality. This mare is a beautiful 9-year-old Bay roan. She has a nice big stocky frame, even at 14.2 hands, weighing in at 1165 lbs.
Charm has Confirmation that will win in a halter class, and the athletic ability to win in speed events. She has competed in novice cutting, team sorting, Playday speed events, Pole bending, and trail. She is currently in training for Breakaway roping.
Charm has won in Team sorting, one man team sorting, and local trail shows. She has placed in the top 5 in the Oklahoma State Round-Up Club State Finals two years in a row. Charm has excelled at pole bending and has won the 1D at several jackpots. At the Recent Bonus Race World Finals Gambler Pole bending event she placed third in the 2D by .038 of a second. I have enjoyed winning many buckles and awards with her.
Being realistic I am heavier than her optimal rider should be. I also do not have the pole bending opportunities for her in Oklahoma. This mare will take a lighter rider to the pay window on a regular basis. She is perfect for Youth and Highschool Rodeo as she will be at least a two-event horse. She could learn goat tying easily, already excels at pole bending and is in training for breakaway but could be a Head or Heel horse as well. Charm loves the opportunity to chase a cow. Along with competing she is also a great horse to ride down the trail, rides a reining pattern, western dressage, has been ridden on the roadside, done obstacle courses, and has carried flags during rodeo performances.
Charm is a sweet and personable horse she loves to be around people. She is easy for the shoer, loves to be groomed, bathed, and has great ground manners. She loads and travels like a champ, I have hauled her 2.5 hours competed in a pole bending jackpots and won the 1D.
I am not offering this mare as a Barrel horse even though she runs a perfect pattern. Charm is cutting/reining horse bred and will never be fast enough to outrun race bred horses. She is fast on the poles because she is tighter in the pole pattern than race bred horses. It is not fair to push a horse not capable of going any faster and crippling them. I will not let her go to someone I suspect would do that to her. She is too talented in the events she likes and will try her hardest for someone she likes and that treats her well.
This is not a beginner’s horse. Charm will be a great step up for a young person that wants to have a horse that likes to go and do. She has lots of power but will listen to a rider that treats her like a friend. No jerking, whipping or sharp spurs needed. If you ride all with your hands and can not learn to ride with your legs, please do not waste your time. This mare will work hard for a rider that can communicate with confidence and relaxed soft hands. Check out the You-Tube Channel attached.
