“kane” a 13 yr old GRADE qh gelding, standing at 14.3hh. he’s a horse you can pretty much do whatever you want on him, i’ve roped off him (for fun) , herded loose cattle, high school rodeo, jackpots, gymkhanas, bareback, bridle-less, trails, beginner rides (being led), etc.
He is a solid 4D horse, sometimes hitting 3D, on barrels, with loping to first. first barrel has always been my struggle, i never seem to know how to ride to it so he gets messed up. if you figure that out you will be solid, as he has the prettiest 2nd/3rd barrels. even with our first Kane is the most consistent barrel horse ever, take the time to figure him out and he will make the same run every single time.
its been a couple years since we’ve really done any pole runs but he was running 23-25 sec poles with me. i entered him in a small jackpot 8/6 and loped him through the pattern just for fun and we got a 26. with some more slow work with rating at the first pole running down he can potentially be quicker as i just have always high loped him down.
Kane is the type of horse that can sit all winter and comes back the same horse. he does need a confident and calm rider if you are going to be running him, he is not dangerous at all, he just gets nerves and anxious and can prance.
he stands GREAT for the vet and has coggins / shots done 6/21/2025. stands for farrier, got his feet trimmed 08-27-25. he is barefoot and runs just fine that way, however if you have a lot of rocks where you live or run you will want him shoed. he was massaged on 7/8/2025 and i do it every other month because he hardly gets ridden right now. plenty more pics/videos at request.
